Blog #3: My game experiences
Today I will talk about my game experiences. When I played during high school, I wasn’t in a team. I would always play with my friends during P.E., or lunch, and with my family for fun. Even If I played with a net, it wasn’t very serious. One of my first experiences was when I went to open gym. I was a sophomore. The girls volleyball hosted an open gym at my school. Some of my guy friends went to go play. I warmed up with the girls and did hitting lines. I wasn’t very good. We were playing a game called U.S.A. It’s when a team scores a point, they shout the letters until they get to the last one. The coaches would toss the balls over. Whenever the balls were coming towards me, I would move out the way, which made my team lose.
I was nervous and I felt really bad. After the open gym, I was very upset. I didn’t feel like playing anymore. But instead, I still kept playing for fun. My first ever game took place at Lindhurst High School. I was a senior. I was playing with a couple of people from high school. I was really nervous. I was receiving pretty good. My team and I kept losing sadly. I couldn’t get my head into the game. I wasn’t able to cover my teammates, which made our team not win and didn’t earn points. I could tell that my teammates were getting very upset. I was pretty upset with myself. My receives and serves were okay, but I just didn’t cover. Sadly after about three games, my team lost so we couldn’t move on.
My third game experience took place last summer. After I graduated high school, there was this small volleyball event happening. My family decided to play. We became a team. It was me, my brother, my sister, my two cousins, my brother in law, my uncle, and my partner. The first ever game we played, we won. There were some times we lost though. Even though I haven’t hit a volleyball in awhile, I still kept trying while playing the game. There were times where I looked funny, or I kept hitting into the net. I did get a lot better, which then I made some points. While playing, I still improved more. I improved my communication. Whenever I go to Chico State with my partner to play, there are times where I mess up or miscommunication. Overall with my experiences, I improved and learned a lot.
